Our Mission & Vision

Mission: To inspire and empower students of all ages to explore STEM fields through hands-on robotics, fostering teamwork, innovation, and community engagement.

Vision: To be a leading youth robotics program recognized for its collaborative spirit, technical excellence, and positive impact on students and the community.

Our Story

Bot Squad was founded in [Year] by a group of passionate students and parents who wanted to create more opportunities for STEM learning in our community. Starting with just one [Competition Type, e.g., FLL] team, we've grown to include multiple squads across elementary, middle, and high school levels, participating in diverse competitions like FIRST LEGO League, VEX IQ, and VEX Robotics Competition.

Our journey has been one of continuous learning, exciting challenges, and incredible growth, not just in size, but in the skills and confidence of our members.

The Heart of Bot Squad: Our Mentorship Model

The cornerstone of our team's philosophy is mentorship. We believe that learning is a collaborative process, and our multi-age structure is designed to maximize this.

  • High schoolers guide younger members: Our VRC and senior FLL/VEX IQ members take active roles in teaching programming basics, engineering principles, and competition strategies to our elementary and middle school squads.
  • Peer-to-peer learning: Students who have experience in a particular competition share their insights and help new teams navigate the season. For example, middle schoolers who 'graduated' from FLL often help elementary FLL teams get started.
  • Building soft skills: This interaction isn't just about technical skills. It's about developing patience, communication, leadership, and empathy.
  • A cycle of giving back: We see younger members, inspired by their older mentors, grow into those leadership roles themselves, creating a sustainable culture of support.
Mentorship in action at Bot Squad

"Seeing the high schoolers help us with our robot made me realize I could do that too one day. It's cool to learn from them!" - [Younger Student Name], [Squad]

"Teaching the younger kids helps reinforce my own understanding. It's rewarding to see them 'get it' and succeed." - [Older Student Name], [Squad]

Our Values

  • Teamwork: We achieve more together.
  • Learning: Curiosity and continuous improvement drive us.
  • Innovation: We encourage creative problem-solving.
  • Respect: We value every member's contribution.

  • Gracious Professionalism® & Coopertition®: (Especially if FIRST teams are involved) We compete fiercely but treat others with respect and help even our competitors.
  • Fun: We believe learning and building should be enjoyable!

Our Adult Coaches & Mentors

Our team is supported by a dedicated group of adult coaches, parents, and community volunteers who provide guidance, resources, and ensure a safe and productive environment. They don't build the robots, but they empower our students to do so!
